How to install HA Web Server for Zabbix on Ubuntu 18.04 ?

The old release for zabbix is 3.4, we’re going to see together how to configuring HA Web server for zabbix on Ubuntu 18.04.

I will divide the tutorial into 3 parts so that I can detail the different procedures.


First time, we need an virtual machine with Ubuntu 18.04 for install Nginx Server and know the future IP address of servers zabbix.

  • zabbix-sql01 –
  • zabbix-node01 –
  • zabbix-node02 –
  • zabbix-node-vip –
  • zabbix-web01 –
  • zabbix-web02 –
  • zabbix-web-vip –

Installation Nginx

Step 1 — Installing Nginx

The latest version of Nginx on Ubuntu 18.04 is nginx/1.14.0 when i write this.

On both servers

Step 2 — Install Php and module

On both servers install php-fpm and modules of php

Step 3 — Configuration Nginx

On both servers

File configuration /etc/nginx/sites-available/monitoring.conf

Create symlink for enable website nginx

Check file configuration with Nginx and start service

Step 4 — Configure Front-End Zabbix

On both servers, create the folder /var/www/zabbix

Download the source of zabbix 3.4 and extract

Configuration zabbix.conf.php in /var/www/zabbix/conf/zabbix.conf.php

Putting the information

Step 5 — Configure High Availability

Install pacemaker and pcs on both servers

Now only zabbix-web01, configure authentication

Then create cluster zabbix web server

Start cluster

if you have a problem please unmask the service pacemaker

On both servers, make sure that Pacemaker and Corosync are started at boot

Check cluster and nodes

Disable stonith and ignore low quorum

We need to create VIP for zabbix web server

Test your VIP and status of pcs

Next, add a new resource for the Nginx ‘zabbix_web’.

Check if ressource appear when you launch the command

Ensuring resources run on the same host

Test your cluster
